President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced the expansion of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu’s Home Garden Initiative, which initially began at the State House.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, revealed that the government’s support for scaling up the First Lady’s Home Garden Initiative is part of a strategic plan to address the high food prices affecting Nigerians. The government aims to enhance nutrition security and promote the production of fortified food commodities through these measures, which will be implemented within the next 180 days.
In collaboration with the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) and the Economic Management Team (EMT), the government will finalize implementation frameworks over the next 14 days.
Earlier, the First Lady unveiled a small private vegetable garden at the State House, featuring seven types of vegetables: spinach, water leaf, bitter leaf, Ewedu, lemon grass, scent leaf, and okro.
She emphasized the impact of individual actions, noting that even seemingly small efforts collectively contribute to advancing food security.
