In an effort to enhance security across the state, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa presented more than 25 Hilux vehicles to various security agencies. The presentation took place at the governor’s office car park in Akure. Aiyedatiwa emphasized that this gesture represents the first batch of operational vehicles aimed at bolstering security under his administration.
Recognizing the crucial role played by security agencies in safeguarding lives and property, the governor expressed his commitment to prioritizing security and safety for residents of the state. He stated, ‘Security agencies are integral to the overall security architecture of any society. Their challenging task often involves patrolling various locations. To facilitate this critical function, we are providing high-grade Toyota Hilux vehicles.’
Aiyedatiwa pledged to continue the legacy of his predecessor, the late Rotimi Akeredolu, who established the South-West Security Network (also known as the Amotekun Corps). He reiterated his dedication to putting people’s security first and emphasized the need for collaboration among security stakeholders and state actors.
The governor acknowledged the heightened security requirements during election periods, noting an increase in criminal activities during such times. The new vehicles are intended to motivate and assist security agencies in fulfilling their critical duties.
He assured that his administration would continue supporting security agencies, ensuring that those who did not receive vehicles in this batch would do so in due course. Additionally, he encouraged security agencies to make optimal use of the vehicles to maintain law and order.
Aiyedatiwa concluded by assuring the people of the Sunshine State that efforts to create a secure and prosperous environment would persist. The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, also emphasized the current administration’s commitment to enhancing security agency efficiency within Ondo State.”
